
Kitchener Hosts the Otters for Halloween Night at the Aud

Kitchener, ON - The Rangers returned to high-scoring ways on Tuesday night winning 6-1 against Sarnia. Kitchener hosts the Erie Otters for the first of six matchups this season at The Aud. Puck drop is slotted for 7 pm.

Head-to-Head:
As divisional opponents the Rangers and Otters have faced off 29 times over the last five seasons. The Rangers are 19-7-1-2 against Erie including a 10-3-0-2 record at home at The Aud. In the 2022-23 season, Kitchener and Erie split the series 3-3. The best campaign was the 2017-18 season, these two clubs faced six times with the Rangers going undefeated against Erie.
The Rangers are currently second in the OHL and first in the Western Conference with a record of 8-3-0-0. The Otters are placed 13th in the league and fifth in the Midwest division with a record of 4-6-1-0 through their first 11 games. The Otters' power play is ranked fourth in the OHL at 28.3%, while their penalty kill sits 19th at 71.7%. The Kitchener Rangers' special teams is middle of the pack in the league as their power play performance is at 20.9% and their penalty kill is at 81.8%.
The Rangers most recently faced the Sarnia Sting at the Aud on Tuesday night where they came away with a 6-1 victory. Nine Rangers ended up on the score sheet. First-year Rangers forward Tanner Lam had a three-point night with one goal and two assists earning the game's first star. Trent Swick scored two goals both the game-winning goal and insurance goal and earned the second star of the game. Goaltender Jackson Parsons earned the game's third star stopping 22 of 23 shots.
This will be the second game of Erie's three games in three days. The Otters were in Barrie last night where they beat the Colts 4-2. Terrance Carey led the team to their win scoring the game-winning goal and insurance goal while also tallying an assist; Carey received the first star of the game. Pano Filmis recorded a goal in the game which was good enough for second star. Ben Gaudreau suited up between the pipes and stopped 21 of 23 shots on net.
Scouting the Rangers:
The Rangers have their names painted all over the OHL leaderboards as the top four point-getters in the league are Rangers. Carson Rehkopf (Seattle) leads the league in points (21) and goals (12G). Rehkopf has collected 17 points (10G, 7A) over the past seven games to keep his point streak alive.
Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver) is second behind Rehkopf in the league for points with 21 and first for assists with 16. Brzustewicz leads all defencemen in the league in points with a seven-point cushion. On Tuesday night he collected an assist to keep his point streak alive at 10 games.
Adrian Misaljevic is third in the league in points with 20 (10G, 10A). He also trails behind Rehkopf as the second-highest goal scorer in the league. Matthew Sop follows one point behind Misaljevic for fourth in the OHL with 7 goals and 12 assists. Against the Sting on Tuesday Sop recorded a goal and an assist to continue his six-game point streak.
Between the pipes, Jackson Parsons is playing at a .902 save percentage and a 2.72 goals-against average through eight games this season. The netminder leads all goaltenders in shutouts with two.
Another category the Rangers lead in is plus/minus with the top four all being Rangers. Matthew Andonovski is dominating the leaderboard with a plus-minus of +20, Misaljevic is a +15, Brzustewicz is a +13, followed by Rehkopf who is a +12.
Scouting the Otters:
Terrance (Anaheim) is the top point-getter for the Otters to start the season. Terrance has recorded 15 points (7G, 8A) in 11 games and is on an eight-game point streak after collecting three points last night in Barrie. He holds the second-longest active point streak in the OHL right now behind Rehkopf. Martin Misiak (Chicago) and Malcolm Spence follow behind Terrance with 10 points each.
Alexis Daviault leads the Otters defenders with eight points (1G, 7A) in 11 games. Spencer Sova trails behind Daviault with four goals and two assists.
The Otters were recently involved in a three-way trade with Sarnia and Saginaw on October 10th. The Erie Otters received overage goaltender, Ben Gaudreau (San Jose) from Sarnia. In exchange, Sarnia received goaltender Nolan Lalonde along with a 2026 third-round selection and, a fourth and sixth-round selection in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection. Sarnia then sent Lalonde to Saginaw in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
Terrance (Anaheim), Misiak (Chicago), and Gaudreau (San Jose) are three Otters who have been drafted by NHL clubs.

Friday's contest vs the Erie Otters will be televised live throughout Kitchener and the Waterloo Region on Rogers TV, cable channel 20, and can be watched across the province of Ontario on the Super Sports Pak on channel 470 for cable subscribers.
