Spirit Win 5-1; Shalla Breaks Record

On Friday night fans came together to watch Josh Shalla score goal number 119 to become the leader in all-time goals scored by a Spirit player in franchise history! Fans also witnessed Vincent Trocheck's 200th game as a Spirit player. The Spirit defeated the Windsor Spitfires by a score of 5-1. Spirit scoring was spread out amongst Eric Locke, Josh Shalla, Brad Walch, and Michael Fine.

Fans enjoyed an exciting first period of the game as the Spirit came out red hot. Eric Locke lit the lamp to give the Spirit a 1-0 lead early in the period. He was assisted by Dalton Young and Justin Kea. Five minutes later Josh Shalla made history by scoring his 119th goal in his Spirit uniform, becoming the all-time leader in goals scored for the team. Brad Walch and Michael Fine set Shalla up for this history-making goal. The scoring continued when Brad Walch scored a goal of his own, assisted by Terry Trafford and Garret Ross. A minute after Walch's goal, Eric Locke scored his second of the game. This fourth Spirit goal was assisted by Carlos Amestoy and Justin Kea. The Spitfires rounded out the end of the period with a goal by Brady Vail, finally putting the team on the board. He was assisted by Jordan Maletta and Kerby Rychel.

Entering the second period, the Spirit led the Spitfires by a score of 4-1. After back and forth play and a handful of power plays for both teams, the period resulted in zero goals. The score stood 4-1.

Saginaw would add one more goal in the third period, scoring 3:50 into the third. Michael Fine scored the goal off a nice pass from Jacob Ringuette and Brandon Saad. Clint Windsor shut out the Spitfires for the remainder of the game. The Spirit defeated the Windsor Spitfires by a score of 5-1.

St Patricks Day Jersey Auction & Fireworks Show - Tomorrow night, the Saginaw Spirit take on the Kitchener Rangers at The Dow Event Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm. The Spirit will be wearing specialty green jerseys tomorrow night for St Patrick's day and will be auctioning them off after the game with proceeds going to Saginaw Rescue Ministries and the Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation. Also post-game, the Spirit will be holding a fireworks show outside of the arena!
