
Spirit Drop Home Game to Greyhounds

The Saginaw Spirit welcomed the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to the Dow Event Center on Friday night. The Greyhounds took a 7-1 win over the Spirit, with Saginaw's Tye Felhaber netting the lone, unassisted goal for the home team.
The Saginaw Spirit and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds entertained the Spirit crowd in a rousing first period of hockey. The Greyhounds struck first with Zach Senyshyn opening the game's scoring at 3:38. Blake Speers was credited with the lone assist on the play. Sault Ste. Marie's Bryan Moore kept the Greyhounds scoring coming, netting a goal at 5:50 to make it a 2-0 game over Saginaw. Tye Felhaber of the Spirit put a stop to the Greyhounds after he netted his 13th goal of the season unassisted against Sault Ste. Marie's starting goaltender Brandon Halverson. Felhaber's goal came at the 9:09 mark and was the last goal scored before the end of the first period. Shots on goal favored Sault Ste. Marie in the first, outshooting Saginaw 11-9.
The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds controlled the second period of play, netting three more goals against Saginaw's starting goaltender Evan Cormier. Zach Senyshyn, Darnell Nurse and Bryan Moore recorded the goals for the Greyhounds, and helped to outshoot the Spirit in the second period of play. The shot clock read Sault Ste. Marie 13, Saginaw 6, as the teams headed to the locker room for the game's second intermission of the night.
Zach Senyshyn of Sault Ste. Marie recorded his third goal of the game in the final period of play, putting home his 19th of the season at the 9:07 mark. Tyler Hore and Michael Bunting were credited with assists on the play that made it a 6-1 game over the Spirit. Before the final buzzer sounded Nick Ritchie netted another goal for the Greyhounds at 10:18 of the third period, with the help of Darnell Nurse and Jared McCann. The final score read Sault Ste. Marie 7, Saginaw 1, with final shots favoring the Greyhounds 40-19.
The Saginaw Spirit will end their lengthy home stretch on Saturday night at the Dow Event Center against the Barrie Colts. Puck is scheduled to drop at 7:11 p.m.
