Belleville Bulls News Release

OTTAWA, ON - The Belleville Bulls and the Ottawa 67's wrapped up a home-and-home series in our Nation's Capital on Friday night. Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead the Bulls dropped their second straight against their Eastern Conference foes.

After a lengthy delay due to a leaky pipe at TD Place in Ottawa, both clubs got off to somewhat of a slow start. Once things picked up the Bulls were the first to find the back of the net. At 13:26 forward David Tomasek made a beautiful move around the defender and beat Liam Herbst to put his club up 1-0. Maurizio Colella and Cole Candella picked up helpers on Tomasek's 9th of the season.

Later in the frame, the 67's had a couple chances to grab the equalizer while on the man advantage but couldn't solve the rookie Connor Hicks. Bulls led 9-6 in shots after the first twenty minutes.

The visitors carried over their momentum to open up the second stanza. Just 32 seconds in, veteran forward Niki Petti put home his 15th of the season from line mate Andrew Ming.

While on the man advantage due to Brandon Saigeon hooking penalty, right-winger Travis Konecny walked in from the corner and beat a sprawling Hicks to cut the lead in half. Forward Nathan Todd and blue liner Alex Lintuniemi picked up the helpers on the play. Shortly after the 67's took advantage of another Bulls penalty. At 16:58 1995-born centre Sam Studnicka potted his 15th of the season from Nevin Guy and Travis Barron to tie the game up at 2.

The Bulls led 18-16 when teams headed to their respective dressing rooms after two periods of play.

Ottawa controlled most of the play in the final frame. At 15:12 Nathan Todd jammed away at a loose puck while Hicks laid across the crease. The goal had to be reviewed but the call on the ice would stand. Jacob Middleton and Konecny picked up helpers on Todd's 11th of the campaign.

The Bulls would add the extra attacker in the dying seconds of the third and had a number of great chances to tie the game but couldn't beat Herbst. Ottawa hands Belleville their fourth straight loss at TD Place this season.

Connor Hicks made 27 saves while his counterpart Liam Herbst made 22. With the loss the Bulls fall to 21-25-3-4.
