Spikes and Jammers Postponed by Rain on Thursday

State College Spikes News Release


JAMESTOWN, NY - Thursday night's scheduled game between the State College Spikes and the Jamestown Jammers at Russell Diethrick Park has been postponed due to rain. The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games starting Friday at 6:05 p.m.

Pitching matchups for the games have not yet been determined. State College was originally slated to have right-handers Ryan Hafner (0-0) and Matt Benedict (0-0) starting on the hill today and tomorrow, respectively. Jamestown was originally to have started right-handers Jose Urena (0-1) and Helpi Reyes (0-1) in the first two games of the three-game set between the two teams.

Friday night's doubleheader will start a six-game road trip for the Spikes, who also travel to Mahoning Valley for a three-game series against the Scrappers starting on Sunday.

The Spikes return home to Medlar Field on Lubrano Park on Wednesday, June 29 to start a five-game homestand with Mahoning Valley, the Cleveland Indians' affiliate. Fans will be able to purchase half-price Outfield Bleacher seats, then enjoy half-price domestic draft beers from 6-8 p.m. and half-price medium sodas all game long on Half-Price Wednesday, presented by BIG Froggy 101.

It will also be Health Care Appreciation Night as the Spikes pay tribute to health care professionals, as well as a Centre County United Way Partner Agency Series night spotlighting the partner agencies of the Centre County United Way.

Fans can catch all of the action on Friday via the Spikes Radio Network starting at 6:50 p.m. with the Spikes GameDay Show live from Russell Diethrick Park. The Spikes' radio broadcast can also be heard worldwide through the "Listen Live" link on StateCollegeSpikes.com, provided by 95.3 FM 3WZ.
