
Doubledays Stymie Scrappers in Series Opener

Auburn, New York - Mahoning Valley had just one hit over the first eight innings and Auburn scored four runs off the Scrappers bullpen to win game one of the series, 7-2.
Tony Wolters tripled with one out in the top of the first inning, the only hit until his one-out triple in the ninth. The Scrappers scored two runs in the ninth on a triple by Bryson Myles and a single by Jordan Smith.
The Doubledays took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning before Hendry Jimenez's three-run home run in the fifth made it 4-0. Auburn scored one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to make it 7-0.
Mahoning Valley has lost all three series-opening games this season.
The Scrappers and Doubledays play on Friday night at 7:05 pm.
