
Special Olympians to meet Travis Richards

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Three local Special Olympic athletes will have an exclusive meet-and-greet session with veteran Grand Rapids Griffins defenseman Travis Richards before the team's regular season finale against the Milwaukee Admirals this Saturday, April 15.
Olympians Missy Beemer (bocce), Tim Melifont (pentathlon) and Chandrea Withers (track) will be joined by their coach, Laura Bassett, for a 15-minute conversation and photo/autograph opportunity with one of the Griffins' all-time greats. Richards will visit with them from 6-6:15 p.m. in Banquet Room D at Van Andel Arena.
The athletes will represent the state of Michigan at the Inaugural Special Olympics USA National Games in Ames, Iowa, from July 2-7, 2006.
