
Rivermen defenseman Mike Stuart joins Blues

Peoria, IL (April 13, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) has recalled defenseman Mike Stuart (STEW-ahrt) from his loan to the Rivermen under emergency conditions. Stuart will be available to play tonight when the Blues take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at 6:00 p.m. (CDT) at Nationwide Arena, and he will wear sweater number 43.
Stuart, 25, has to this point spent the entire 2005-06 season with the Rivermen. In 56 games played with Peoria this season, the 6-0, 195-pound blueliner has recorded 13 assists and 30 minutes in penalties. Stuart has appeared in two NHL games during his career, both with the Blues. The Chicago native made his NHL debut for St. Louis on October 24, 2003, at Calgary and then also saw action on January 10, 2004, at Nashville. Originally selected by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round, 137th overall, of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Stuart signed as a free agent with the Blues on October 7, 2002.
Stuart becomes the 18th player to spend time this season on the roster of both the Blues and the Rivermen. The 17 men who have already suited up for both teams during 2005-06 include:
