Special Father's Day Akron Aeros Jersey Auction Raises Nearly $3,000 for Conquering Cancer Fund

AKRON, OH - Akron Aeros fans raised $2,775 on Sunday, June 19 through a commemorative jersey auction with proceeds going to the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute's Conquering Cancer Fund.

Fans bid on special powder blue jerseys worn by the entire team during the game on Father's Day, in conjunction with prostate cancer awareness. Throughout the game, fans bid on their favorite Aeros game-worn jerseys, with the highest bidders having the opportunity to meet the player, and receive his autographed jersey following the game.

Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute's Conquering Cancer Fund supports the highest priority initiatives in cancer research. Proceeds from the jersey auction will help support further investigation of the disease, as well as assist in improving patient outcomes. Researchers are testing new ways to prevent, detect, diagnose and treat cancer, offering patients access to innovative treatments and helping future patients by advancing the understanding of the disease.

Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute's is ranked ninth in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and is the top oncology program in Ohio.
