Space Cowboys Road Trip Leads off with 11-5 Win

(TACOMA, Washington) - The Sugar Land Space Cowboys kicked off a two-week road trip with an 11-5 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium.

The Space Cowboys launched to a 7-0 lead in the second, led by a solo homer from Korey Lee. An RBI single from Alex McKenna followed up, along with two an RBI double from Pedro Leon and an RBI double from Lewis Brinson. The final run of the second inning came as Sugar Land batted around the order, bringing Lee to the plate to drive in Brinson with an RBI single.

The Rainiers followed suit scoring in the second with an RBI double from Marcus Wilson and a two-run homer from Sam Haggerty.

JJ Matijevic added to the score in the top of the fourth with an RBI double. Ronaldo Urdaneta and Michael Papierski both added RBI singles stretching the lead to 10-3.

Tacoma added another run in the fourth with a homer from Wilson, but the scoring halted until the top of the 9th inning with a fielders choice from Papierski to bring in Alex De Goti. The Rainiers went to the bottom of the 9th trailing 11-4, and crossed the plate once more before the Space Cowboys claimed victory 11-5.

The Space Cowboys and Rainiers meet again Wednesday, April 20 at 8:05 PM CST for game two of the six-game series at Cheney Stadium.
