South Bay Falls to Clippers in Ontario

ONTARIO, CA- The South Bay Lakers dropped the season series to their crosstown rivals, as they fell to the Agua Caliente Clippers, 122-110, on Saturday night. Justin Harper scored a team-high 21 points for South Bay (17-27) but the team could not recover after falling behind early. Jonathan Motley posted a 34-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Clippers (23-21) in the win.

South Bay fell behind by 15 after one, 48-33, despite eight points off the bench from Robert Heyer. Manu Lecomte poured in 17 first-quarter points to put the Clippers ahead. Harper and Travis Wear combined for 13 points in the second quarter, but the Lakers still trailed, 75-58, going into the half.

The Clippers maintained their lead through three, 93-80, despite a combined 16 points from Harper and Scott Machado. Spencer Hawes scored 12 points in the final period, as the Lakers outscored the Clippers by one, but it wasn't enough to get the win.

Motley's double-double powered the Clippers, while Lecomte finished with 26 points. Angel Delgado also tallied a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jerome Robinson (14 points) and Sindarius Thornwell (12 points) also finished in double figures.

Harper finished the game with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Machado nearly grabbed a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. Hawes scored 19 points to go along with his nine rebounds off the bench. Wear also scored 19 points, as Heyer (11 points) and Jemerrio Jones (10 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals) also scored in double figures.

South Bay now heads East where they will face the Wisconsin Herd on Monday, March 11 at 5:00pm PT from the Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh, WI.
