Long Island Defeats Iowa for Ninth Win in a Row

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (30-14), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Iowa Wolves (17-29) 122-111 at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The win is the Nets' ninth in a row, tying for the longest winning streak in the NBA G League this season. The team has also won seven straight home games, which ties for the longest streak in the NBA G League this season as well.
Brooklyn two-way forward/center Alan Williams registered his 27th double-double of the season with 19 points and 15 rebounds along with two assists and a block in 31 minutes. Brooklyn two-way guard/forward Theo Pinson scored a team-high 26 points with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in 31 minutes, while Brooklyn guard/forward Dzanan Musa logged a double-double with 17 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds along with two assists, a steal and two blocks in 32 minutes.
Long Island came out hot, scoring 36 points in the opening period led by Theo Pinson's 11 points. The Nets shot 65.2 percent from the field as a team and held Iowa to just 36.7 percent. Going into the second, the Nets led 36-28. Iowa returned the favor, scoring 37 points in the second quarter, including a buzzer-beater 3-point basket by Darius Johnson-Odom. The Nets still carried a two-point lead into halftime, leading Iowa 67-65.
Both teams tightened up defensively in the third quarter with Long Island scoring 27 and Iowa scoring 24. The Nets held the Wolves to 35.5 percent from the field in the third period, taking a five-point lead into the final period of play. The Nets put their foot on the gas in the fourth quarter, extending to their biggest lead of the game, 20 points, before defeating the Wolves by 11, 122-111.
Iowa forward Jaylen Johnson scored 20 points and had eight rebounds, two assists and three blocks off the bench for the Wolves in 19 minutes. Minnesota two-way guard Brandon Goodwin had 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 44 minutes.
Long Island will take on the Erie BayHawks at home on Wednesday, Mar.13, at 7 p.m. ET, while Iowa will return home to take on the Austin Spurs on Wednesday, Mar. 13, at 8 p.m. ET.
