
Allen, Knicks Stop Red Claws

Portland, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, erased a 15 point deficit to take a 4th quarter lead, but fell just short of the Westchester Knicks Sunday, 115-106.
Maine (18-26) was led by Andrew White with 27 points to lead all scorers. P.J. Dozier finished 3 rebounds shy of a triple-double with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. John Bohannon added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, Archie Goodwin added 15 points and Justin Bibbs scored 14 in the loss.
Westchester (28-18) was led by Billy Garrett with 22 points. Former Red Claw Kadeem Allen added 20 points and 9 assists.
The Red Claws and Knicks traded baskets early, with Dozier's three cutting the deficit to 10-8. Former Red Claw Kadeem Allen led the charge offensively for Westchester, feeding Jameel Warney on multiple occasions. The Red Claws hung around, with Dozier's assists cutting it to a 1 point game. Westchester led 38-35 after a high-scoring 1st quarter.
In the 2nd, the Knicks opened up a sizeable lead, with Gyorgy Goloman and Allen leading the charge. Westchester's lead swelled to 15 at 65-50. Sheldon Jeter's three as well as Bohannon's strong offensive play got Maine back within single digits, and the Westchester lead was 68-60 at halftime. Allen led all scorers with 15 points at the break, while White had 14 points for the Claws. Both teams shot over 50% in the first half.
The 3rd quarter opened with a Red Claws rally, with Justin Bibbs knocking in a three followed by a Dozier driving dunk. Billy Garrett hit a big three to put the Knicks up 78-65. The Red Claws then went on a 10-0 run to get the game back to 3 points. Goloman and the Knicks righted the ship, taking a 92-83 lead after 3.
In the 4th, the Red Claws got back into the game with a 9-0 run, and Dozier's lay-up tied the game at 96. Bohannon and Dozier made back-to-back buckets, and suddenly the Red Claws led 100-98 with 6:00 to go. Paul Watson answered with a three for the Knicks to take the lead back. It was a lead Westchester would not relinquish again, out-scoring Maine 17-6 in the final 6:00 of the game. Goodwin left the game with a back injury, and Watson's clutch three sealed victory.
Maine finished shooting 45.3% (39-86) from the floor, 34.2% (13-38) from three-point range, and 15-20 from the free throw line. Westchester shot 46.5% (40-86) from the floor, 56% (14-25) from downtown and 21-24 from the free throw line.
