OKLAHOMA CITY - The Nashville Sounds had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to the Oklahoma RedHawks on Wednesday evening at SBC Bricktown Ballpark in the third game of a four-game series.

Oklahoma opened the scoring with a pair of first-inning runs against right-hander Pat Mahomes, who made his first start for Nashville after being added to the team's rotation. Jeff Pickler scored the game's first run when Mike Lamb singled to right and rightfielder J.J. Davis overran the ball. Lamb scored later in the inning on a Jason Hart RBI grounder to give the RedHawks a 2-0 lead.

Tony Alvarez scored both of the Sounds runs on the evening. He walked in the top of the second, stole second, moved to third on an error, and scored on Rob Mackowiak's RBI single to cut the Oklahoma lead in half. Alvarez tied the contest in the sixth when he doubled, took third on a Gerald Laird passed ball, and scampered home when Blake Barthol's comebacker was misplayed by Oklahoma hurler Ryan Snare.

Mahomes gave way to reliever John Grabow in the sixth and Pickler greeted the southpaw with a leadoff triple. The RedHawks infielder broke the 2-2 tie later in the frame when he scored on Hart's two-out single to right.

The Sounds had their chances in the game, leaving the bases loaded on two occasions and stranding 11 runners on the evening.

Snare (2-0) picked up the victory for the RedHawks while Grabow (0-1) was tagged with the loss in his first career Triple-A decision. Dan Murray came on to record the final four outs for Oklahoma to earn his second save of the year.

Mahomes, making his first start since last September for the Chicago Cubs, allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits over five innings of work.

The teams wrap up their four-game series with a 7:05 p.m. meeting on Thursday evening. Right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (9-6, 4.57) takes the hill for the Sounds to face RedHawks right-hander Colby Lewis (5-1, 3.02).
