Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Tucson produced a recipe for frustration Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. The Sidewinders committed two errors, allowed one unearned run, walked ten Stinger batters, two of which scored in a 3-0 Salt Lake win at Franklin Covey Field.

Two of the first three Sidewinder hitters collected singles. Tucson mustered just three more singles the remainder of the game while dropping to 50-53.

Salt Lake scored first against John Patterson in the third when Robb Quinlan reached on an error by Chad Tracy and scored on a double by Adam Riggs.

The Stingers pushed the lead to 2-0 in the fourth when Alfredo Amezaga plated Jeff Guiel with a sacrifice fly.

Salt Lake pushed across a run against Brian Bruney in the eighth inning, the first earned run he has allowed in 16 innings of work.

Sidewinders dropped to 50-53. Tucson and Salt Lake will finish off the four-game series Thursday night with a 6:00 p.m. start (Tucson time). Mike Gosling (8-9 5.66) who went to high school in Salt Lake will pitch for Tucson on the Utah holiday Pioneer Day against Brandon Emanuel (6-8 4.69).
