
Sound Tigers Win Fifth Straight

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, beat the Lowell Lock Monsters 5-1 at home Sunday to complete a sweep of a three-game-in-three-day weekend. It was also the fifth straight win and second in a row at home for the Sound Tigers who are now 7-6-1 on the season.
Matt Koalska gave the Sound Tigers the first lead at 1-0 with his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Steve Regier 11:52 into the game.
Rob Collins doubled the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted, shorthanded goal, his sixth marker overall, with 5:57 left in the middle frame.
Wyatt Smith upped the lead to 3-0 with his team-leading seventh goal of the season, his third in two games, just 1:26 into the third period off assists from Vince Macri and Collins. It was the team-best 12th helper and 18th point for Collins.
Former Lock Monster Allan Rourke made it 4-0 Sound Tigers with his third goal of the season, and second in three games since returning from an ankle injury, off assists from Regier and Evgeny Tunik at the 7:19 mark. Tunik is now on a three-game assist streak.
Tunik scored his first goal as a Sound Tiger off assists from Regier and Paul Flache with 9:58 left to play to make it 5-0. The three assists by Regier tied a Sound Tigers single-game record while the helper by Flache was his second in as many games.
Sound Tigers goaltender Wade Dubielewicz came within 4:15 of the team's first shutout of the season, but Lowell's Vince Bellissimo scored his fourth goal of the season, on the power play, off assists from Tomas Slovak and Andrew Ladd to cap the scoring at 5-1.
Dubielewicz was the first star of the game with 29 saves. Regier was the second star with his three-assist effort. Collins was the third star with two points. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 4 on the power play and had a 31-30 shots on goal advantage. Vitaly Kolesnik made 26 saves for the Lock Monsters who were 1 for 8 on the power play.
The Sound Tigers will begin a stretch of four games in five days when they host the Philadelphia Phantoms this Wednesday, November 16th at 7:05 p.m. on "Comedy Night".
