Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL (November 13, 2005) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, today announced that the Blues have assigned goaltender Reinhard Divis to Peoria and reassigned defenseman Patrick Wellar from the Rivermen to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

Divis, 30, joins the Rivermen for the first time in 2005-06. In five appearances for the Blues so far this season, the 6-0, 192-pound goalie has posted a record of 0-2-0, a goals-against average of 4.92, and a save percentage of .845. The native of Vienna, Austria, spent last season with EC Villacher SV of the Austrian League and compiled a 10-10-4 record, a 2.47 goals-against average, and a .924 save percentage in 26 games played. On April 7, 2002, Divis became the first Austrian-born player to ever appear in the National Hockey League (NHL) when he played 25 minutes and made four saves in his NHL debut against the Colorado Avalanche. The Blues selected him with their eighth choice, 261st overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Wellar, 21, leaves Peoria without having seen any action for the Rivermen following his recall to the team on October 28. Measuring 6-3 and 210 pounds, Wellar has played in three ECHL games so far this season with the Alaska Aces and recorded one assist. Last season as a rookie, the native of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, scored 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists) and posted 91 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL. He also picked up one assist in two AHL contests last year with the Worcester IceCats. Wellar was originally selected by the Washington Capitals in the third round, 77th overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
