Sound Tigers Sign Oleksy to PTO

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Oct. 25, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed defenseman Steve Oleksy to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Oleksy, 25, joins the Sound Tigers after appearing in five games this season with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, recording one assist and 20 penalty minutes. The Chesterfield, MI native made his AHL debut last season with the Lake Erie Monsters where he notched four assists in 17 games. In addition, the 6'0", 195-pound defenseman totaled 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) and 134 penalty minutes in 55 games with Idaho during the 2010-11 season. Oleksy began his pro career during the 2008-09 season after a three-year collegiate stint at Lake Superior State University where he amassed three goals and 17 assists in 113 games.
