Bears Recall Paul Baier from South Carolina

HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that defenseman Paul Baier has been recalled from South Carolina (ECHL). The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Baier, 26, has recorded one assist and a plus- 1 rating in four games with the Stingrays. The 6-4, 225-lb. native of Summit, NJ most recently spent time in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, posting two goals, 10 assists and 80 penalty minutes in 62 games last season.

Baier has appeared in a total of 198 career AHL games with Rochester, Binghamton, and Portland, totaling 35 points (8G, 27A). Prior to turning pro he completed four years at Brown University (ECAC), recording 28 points (5G, 23A) in 125 games. He was originally selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round (95th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The BEARS are on the road this weekend to take on the Springfield Falcons on Friday, October 28 at 7:30 PM and the Adirondack Phantoms on Saturday, October 29 at 7:00 PM.
