Marlies Finish Five-Game Homestand on Wednesday Night at Ricoh Coliseum

Joey Crabb was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for period ending October 23. In two games last week, Crabb recorded five points (three goals, two assists). He led the Marlies comeback on Sunday with three third period points, including two goals.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- The Marlies currently rank first in the North Division with a record of 4-1-1-0 for nine points. They will complete their five-game homestand tomorrow night against Abbotsford before embarking on a nine-game road trip that starts in Cleveland.

- Joey Crabb was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week on Monday. Crabb has posted 11 points in his past four games (all multi-point efforts). Crabb ranks tied for second in the AHL in points (12) and third in goals (six).

- Joe Colborne has recorded at least a point in every game so far this season. He ranks tied with Crabb for the team lead in points with 12 (five goals, seven assists). Colborne scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Saturday afternoon versus the Americans.

- The Marlies penalty killing unit allowed their first goals this season on Sunday, but still ranks sixth overall in the league at 88.0%.

- Toronto holds a record of 3-0-0 when their opponent scores the game's opening goal.

- Mike Zigomanis has recorded three straight two-point games. Zigomanis has also notched at least a point in each of his first six games this season.

- Colborne and Crabb share the team lead with a plus-6 rating.

- Kelsey Wilson scored his first goal as a Marlie on Saturday in the Marlies win. Wilson paces the club with 16 penalty minutes.

- The Marlies announced on Monday that Mark Owuya has been recalled from the Reading Royals. In three games, Owuya has a 1-1-0 record with a 2.97 goals against average and 0.921 save percentage.

Last Week:

The Marlies took three out of a possible four points over the weekend. They opened their weekend with a 5-4 overtime win over the Rochester Americans. The Marlies fought back from being down 4-2 with under two minutes to play to tie the game, and then Joe Colborne scored in overtime to cap the comeback. Colborne finished the night with three points. Ryan Hamilton, Joey Crabb and Mike Zigomanis all chipped in with two point contests in the win.

On Sunday, the Marlies fought back to earn a single point in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Lake Erie Monsters. After trailing 3-1 going into the final period, the Marlies scored three, third period goals to force overtime.

Crabb tallied two late goals to help push the game into extra time, but Tyson Barrie ended the game in overtime while the Monsters were on a power play. Zigomanis and Colborne both tallied two point games in the loss.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies host the Abbotsford Heat for the first time this season on Wednesday evening. The Heat come to Ricoh Coliseum holding a 4-2-0-0 record, good for third place in the West Division. Abbotsford has yet to lose on the road this year, holding a 2-0-0-0 record. Goaltender Leland Irving has started each of the Heat's first six games and posts a 1.82 goals against average and 0.917 save percentage. Greg Nemisz leads the club with five points (two goals, three assists).

Toronto travels to Cleveland for a pair of games this weekend. The two clubs have faced each other three times already this season, with the Marlies going 2- 0-1 against their division rivals. Joe Colborne and Joey Crabb have combined for 15 points against the Monsters through the first three matchups. After the game on Sunday the two teams won't meet again until the end of 2011.

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals currently rank third in the Atlantic Division with a 2-1- 1-0 record for five points through their first four games. Matt Caruana recorded a three-point game on Saturday in Reading's 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones.
