Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month at their final two home games in October.
Pink "Stick it to Breast Cancer" T-shirts and pink pucks signed by right wing DARREN HAYDAR, team spokesmen for the fundraiser, will be available for purchase at the games this weekend on Fri., Oct. 28 and Sat., Oct. 29. T-shirts can be purchased for a $20 donation, while pucks are available for a $10 donation. Both items can also be purchased by calling 1-800-THE-WOLVES, while supplies last.
"We have all been touched by cancer in some way, HAYDAR said. "For me, cancer hits close to home. My wife Sara broke through it, so I am always looking for ways to create awareness on any type of cancer."
On Sat., Oct. 29, the Wolves will use special pink sticks during warm-ups, when they host the Texas Stars at 7 p.m at the Allstate Arena. The sticks will be autographed by several players and will be available for a $150 donation, the cost of a mammogram for those who can't afford one. Thanks in part to Heidenhain's generosity, they will be matching each $150 donation to ensure more women have the opportunity to receive mammograms. The sticks will be available at the Customer Service Booth in the Southeast lobby. Proceeds will benefit A Silver Lining Foundation and Chicago Wolves Charities.
"Last year we were able to provide 55 mammograms," said Senior Vice President of Operations Courtney Mahoney. "This season, with the donations of the team's autographed hockey sticks and the support of our fans, we are hoping to reach 100."
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game on Oct. 29 in a show of solidarity in the fight against this disease.
