Wilkes-Barre/Scranton opened the scoring with two goals in a 37-second span early in the first period as Matt Hussey tallied on the power play off assists from Ryan Whitney and Daniel Carcillo to make it 1-0 at 2:58 and Erik Christensen doubled the lead at 3:35 off assists from Andy Schneider and Michel Ouellet.
The Penguins scored four times in a 6:07 span early in the middle frame to make it 6-0. Christensen made it 3-0 on the power play off assists from Carcillo and Whitney at 1:56. Christensen completed to the hat trick off assists from goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and Ouellet to make it 5-0 at 7:11. Surovy finished the barrage at 6-0 of assists from Colby Armstrong and Ryan Lannon chasing netminder Wade Dubielewicz from the Sound Tigers net with ten saves on 16 shots at the 8:03 mark.
Just 45 seconds into the third period, Guillaume Lefebvre notched his first of the season, on the power play, off assists from Ouellet and Whitney to make it 7-0.

Christensen was the first star of the game, Whitney the second, and Surovy the third. The Penguins were 4 for 6 on the power play while the Sound Tigers were 0 for 8 and had a 28-27 shots on goal advantage, including 14-7 in the third period.
