
Neilson signs with the Monarchs

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with right wing Eric Neilson, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. The Monarchs have loaned Neilson to the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Neilson, 21, appeared in 54 games last season with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, recording 26 points (13-13=26) and 157 penalty minutes. A fifth round (143rd overall) draft pick of the Kings in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Neilson played the past four seasons for the Oceanic. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Fredricton, New Brunswick, appeared in 207 regular season games, collected 54 points (19-35=54) and 822 penalty minutes with Rimouski from 2001-05.
The Monarchs open their regular season on Saturday night in Hartford against the Wolf Pack. The home opener is set for Saturday, October 15, at 7:35 pm against the Springfield Falcons at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Single seats in the Gold level and 1,000 seats in the Silver level remain for next Saturday's game against the Falcons.
