Erik Christensen recorded a team-record four goals to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to an 8-1 win Wednesday night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The win upped the Penguins' record in season openers to 2-5-0-0 all-time, and bettered their record in home openers to 3-4-0-0.

Matt Hussey opened the scoring with a power play goal just 2:58 into the game, beating Sound Tigers goaltender Wade Dubielewicz on the backhand.

Christensen picked up his first of the night just 37 seconds later, and netted number two on the night less than two minutes into the second period. That was the first of a flurry of goals for the Penguins, who goat a total of four goals from Christensen (2) and Tomas Surovy (2) in a 6:07 span in the middle frame to give the home team a comfortable lead.

Dubielewicz was pulled after Surovy's second of the night, but backup Chris Madden allowed Guillaume Lefebvre to tally 0:45 into the third period to make the score 7-0.

Allen Rourke spoiled Marc-Andre Fleury's shuout bid at 12:23 of the third, but Christensen got credit for a goal off the skate of a Bridgeport defender to finish off the night's scoring.

Fleury stopped 26 of 27 shots to record the win. The Penguins were four for six on the power play, and stopped all eight Bridgeport opportunities on the night.
