Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL (October 5, 2005) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the team has assigned left wing Justin Maiser, defenseman Patrick Wellar, and goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu to its ECHL affiliate team, the Alaska Aces.

Maiser, 22, will be skating in just his second professional season in 2005-06. A 6-1, 205-pound left wing, he spent the majority of his rookie season last year with the ECHL Peoria Rivermen, posting 32 points (19 goals, 13 assists) and 87 penalty minutes in 59 appearances. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native also saw action in nine games for the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL) during 2004-05, recording one goal and two penalty minutes.

The 21-year-old Wellar also split his rookie professional season of 2004-05 between the ECHL Rivermen and the AHL IceCats. In 62 games as a Riverman, the 6-3, 210-pounder notched two goals, ten assists, and 91 minutes in penalties. A product of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, he recorded one assist in two games as an IceCat.

Like Maiser and Wellar, Beckford-Tseu, 21, turned professional in 2004 and made an appearance for both ECHL Peoria and AHL Worcester last season. The 6-2, 201-pound goalie tended the Rivermen net 29 times in 2004-05, going 11-12-3 with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Born in Toronto, he saved all seven shots that he faced in a 29-minute appearance for the IceCats last season.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and will celebrate its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
