Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros, their season ticketholders and select sponsors have purchased 700 tickets for this Friday's home opener to go to the Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department and Harris County Sheriff's Department. The move is in thanks to the efforts the officers provided to the city of Houston during the Hurricane Rita evacuation. The officers will be recognized and saluted at Friday's game against San Antonio. The game is at Toyota Center at 7:35 p.m.

"My brother is a Houston firefighter and had to work during the hurricane while the rest of us spent time leaving town or riding out the storm," Aeros vice president of ticket sales Tom Stallings said. "Everyone watched the news and saw all of these public servants working throughout Hurricane Rita and doing a difficult job without complaint. Their professionalism and attitude reflected well on our community. Out of respect for what they did, we decided to host as many police officers, fire fighters and sheriffs as we could at our home opener. Through the generosity of our season ticket holders and sponsors we are proud to have over 700 firefighters and peace officers and their families at our game this Friday."

Among the great supporters of this cause are the Murphy family, Mi Swaco and Everyone's Internet. To sponsor a peace officer or firefighter and their family's attendance at Friday's game, please call the Aeros front office at 713.974.PUCK.
