Sound Tigers Announce Partnership with St. Vincent's Special Needs Services

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they will partner with St. Vincent's Special Needs Services this season as part of their "Paws for a Cause" charitable program.

Throughout the season, the Sound Tigers will host and attend community events and fundraisers to help bring awareness and raise money for the St. Vincent's Special Needs Center located in Trumbull. In addition, the team will hold in-game raffles throughout the season for various prizes, including game-worn jerseys. "We are committed to serving all aspects of our local community," said Howard Saffan, President of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, "It's very important for our players to show support of great organizations in our community, and few rival the level of care and dedication that St. Vincent's Special Needs Services provides."

Monthly visits to the Center are planned through April, and children and adults who attend St. Vincent's Special Needs Programs will also visit Webster Bank Arena to spend time with the team. The kick off will take place on Tuesday, October 25 when the entire team will visit to celebrate "Feroleto Sound Tigers Day."

"This is a very engaging partnership between the two organizations," said Ray Baldwin, President and CEO of St. Vincent's Special Needs Services. "The Sound Tigers' interest and generosity have fostered an exciting sense of team spirit and pride. We are grateful to them for their support and partnership. Our special children and adults, along with our entire staff, are very excited about this relationship."

Since 1955 St. Vincent's Special Needs Services has been a major provider in Southern Connecticut of specialized lifelong education, therapeutic programs, and residential services for children and adults with severe multiple developmental disabilities and special health care needs. Programs for children and their families originate from the Feroleto Children's Development Center in Trumbull, Connecticut. Each year, more than 400 children, adults and their families attend St. Vincent's Special Needs Services to attend programs and receive services. The Sound Tigers begin a five-game homestand this weekend with contests against the Worcester Sharks on Friday and the Providence Bruins on Saturday at 7 p.m. Friday's game will be Haunted Hockey Night in honor of Halloween, which will include a pre-game skate, trick or treating for kids from 6-7 p.m. and a Halloween Happy Hour at the grand opening of the Bud Light Blue Zone on the third level of Webster Bank Arena. Saturday night's game is Latino Night, sponsored by State Farm, and includes a live step show, DJ in the atrium prior to the game, and an iPad 2 raffle.
