
Sound Tigers Announce 2016-17 Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced their 2016-17 regular-season schedule. For the fourth straight year, the Sound Tigers will open the season at Webster Bank Arena with a 7 p.m. matchup against the Providence Bruins on October 15.
The Sound Tigers are excited to boast a family and fan-friendly schedule that has 31 of the team's 38 home games on weekend dates. Bridgeport's home schedule will feature 15 Saturday nights, 13 Sunday afternoons and three Friday night games.
"We are excited to have more than 80-percent of our home games on the weekend," President Michael Picker said. "There's a lot to look forward to including the return of 3 p.m. starts for most of our Sunday contests. In addition, we are incorporating fun themed activities into a significant amount of our home games."
Bridgeport's most common opponents in 2016-17 will be division rivals Providence and the Springfield Thunderbirds; the Sound Tigers will battle those clubs 12 times each. Bridgeport will also meet the Hartford Wolf Pack, Hershey Bears and Lehigh Valley Phantoms eight times each, as well as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins six times. The Sound Tigers will wrap up the 2016-17 regular season in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday, April 15.
The annual "Cool Fun 101" school day game will take place Wednesday, November 2 when the Albany Devils visit Webster Bank Arena at 11 a.m. In addition, the Sound Tigers will host the "Spring Fun 102" game at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4 against Springfield.
The team's full promotional schedule with details on Opening Night and all other theme nights will be released over the next two weeks.

- Longest homestand: Eight games (January 21 - February 7)
- Longest road trip: Six games (March 22 - April 1)
- Bridgeport will face 12 different opponents at Webster Bank Arena this year, including the first ever regular-season matchup against the Toronto Marlies on January 21.
- The Sound Tigers will face every Eastern Conference opponent at least twice except for the St. John's IceCaps (none).
- Bridgeport's 15 Saturday home games are four more than the team played last season. In addition, the Sound Tigers' three Friday home games are two more than in 2015-16.
- Nine of the Sound Tigers last 12 games will take place on the road.
- Fifty-four of the 76 games (71-percent) are against Atlantic Division opponents.
- Among the many highlights of the road schedule is the return of the New Year's Day contest for a second straight season. The Sound Tigers will travel to Albany on January 1 to ring in 2017 against the Devils.
