
Cleveland Monsters Release 2016-17 Regular Season Schedule

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, the AHL's reigning Calder Cup Champions, announced today the release of the team's 2016-17 regular season schedule featuring 76 AHL contests beginning Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm at Quicken Loans Arena versus the Monsters' Central-Division rivals, the Rockford IceHogs. The 2016-17 campaign marks the Monsters' 10th AHL season and second as the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. During the 2016-17 campaign, the Monsters will play 68 of their 76 regular season games versus Central Division foes with 12 meetings apiece scheduled between Cleveland and the Grand Rapids Griffins, Iowa Wild and Chicago Wolves, and eight meetings each between the Monsters and the Manitoba Moose, Charlotte Checkers and Rockford. Cleveland's only clashes outside the Central Division are four meetings each versus the Pacific Division's Texas Stars and San Antonio Rampage.
The Monsters will play 23 weekend home games this season, including 12 Friday night tilts, eight Saturday games and three Sunday afternoon matinees. Notable dates on the Monsters' home schedule include a Veterans Day clash versus Chicago at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 11th, a 7:00 pm puck-drop versus Grand Rapids to cap Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, November 26th, a pair of post-holiday games versus the Griffins on Wednesday, December 28th and Friday, December 30th at 7:00 pm and a St. Patrick's Day showdown versus the Texas Stars on Friday, March 17th at 7:00 pm.
The Monsters' longest home-stand of the season is a stretch of eight straight home dates versus four opponents stretching from Friday, March 17th to Thursday, March 30th while the team's longest road trip will be a seven-game, three-state trek beginning on Wednesday, February 15th in Rockford and ending on Saturday, February 25th in Charlotte. Cleveland will conclude its regular season with three straight home dates in mid-April at The Q versus Grand Rapids on Sunday, April 9th at 5:00 pm and Manitoba on Thursday, April 13th and Friday, April 14th at 7:00 pm.
