Ontario Reign Release 2016-17 Regular-Season Schedule
August 22, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA -The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today the team's 2016-17 regular-season schedule.
The 2016-17 campaign kicks off with the start of the second season of the SoCal Series between the Reign and the San Diego Gulls on Saturday, October 15 at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. The two teams meet a season-high 12 times in the regular season with each side holding six home games. Last season, the Reign finished 4-6-1-1 against the Gulls in the regular season and claimed the first Pacific Division title in the postseason, removing the Gulls in five games in the Pacific Division Finals.
The Ontario Reign celebrate Opening Weekend on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 against the Texas Stars and San Jose Barracuda at Citizens Business Bank Arena. For the second-straight season, all weekday home games start at 7:00 p.m., Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
For the first time in 2016-17, the Reign battle the newest addition to the Pacific Division, the Tucson Roadrunners, and take on the Central Division's Iowa Wild and Rockford IceHogs. The Ontario Reign and Roadrunners collide 12 times in the regular season with each team hosting six meetings. In November, the Reign make their lone visit to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa and BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, Illinois on the 12th and 13th and host the Wild at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday, February 15 and the IceHogs on Sunday, February 26.
Of the 34 home games, 25 take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Two weekends feature three-game in three-day scenarios (October 28-30, March 10-12) and eight three-game in four-night series take place.
