Sound Tigers Add Tallari and Guerriero

NORFOLK, VA – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the signings of right wing Joe Tallari to a professional tryout contract and center Jason Guerriero to an amateur tryout contract.

Both players, who led their respective teams in scoring this season, joined the Sound Tigers just in time for this morning's practice and will be available for tonight's road game versus the Norfolk Admirals. Tallari will wear number 28 while Guerriero will wear number 13. They join Nathan Gillies who will also be available for tonight's game wearing number 7 after signing a PTO with the Sound Tigers yesterday.

Tallari, 24, comes from the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs for whom he has posted a team-leading 32 goals and 51 points along with 19 assists and 56 penalty minutes in 66 games this season. The 6'0'' 195-pounder from Thunder Bay, Ontario has also appeared in one AHL game this season with the Cleveland Barons. Tallari played in one AHL game last year, with the Hartford Wolf Pack, after completing his fourth and final season with Niagara University of College Hockey America. He was a finalist for the 2002-03 Hobey Baker Award as the nation's top collegiate hockey player after leading the CHA in scoring that season.

Guerriero, who will turn 24 next month, comes from Northeastern University of Hockey East for whom he was the leading scorer with 17 goals, 31 assists and 48 points in 38 games as team captain this season. The 5'8'' 175-pounder from Manorville, Long Island also led Hockey East in scoring with 11 goals, 23 assists and 34 points in 24 league games earning first-team Hockey East All-Star honors and winning the Len Ceglarski Award for individual sportsmanship this season. Guerriero has played the last four years, 2001-05, at Northeastern and also skated two seasons, 1999-2001, for the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League, as well as one year, 1998-99, with the United States Hockey League's Dubuque Fighting Saints.

The Sound Tigers will play four games in five days this week starting with three in four days on the road. All four games will be versus East Division opponents. The Sound Tigers will visit Norfolk tonight and Friday and the Hershey Bears Saturday before hosting the Binghamton Senators this Sunday. All four games will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com. The three road games will also be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM.
