SOTI Weekend Preview: Another Eventful Week Ahead
January 31, 2022 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brampton Steelheads News Release
The Mississauga Steelheads aim to keep their win streak alive and earn 60 points this season as they take on the Niagara IceDogs, Oshawa Generals and Hamilton Bulldogs.
Back-To-Back
The Steelheads will make their way down the QEW to face off with the Niagara IceDogs for the second time in three days. After a dominant 5-2 victory against the IceDogs on home ice, the Trout will look to repeat their performance at Meridian Centre this Tuesday. Currently, the Blue and White hold a 13-5-1-3 record when it comes to back-to-backs throughout the season.
After Sunday evening's outstanding performance, the Steelheads have won four of five games with 5.4 goals per game average against Niagara. In yesterday's match, Ty Collin earned his second two-goal game this year and is leading the Trout in goals scored against the IceDogs with six goals. The match-up was also a more meaningful one for the newest member of the Blue and White, Jake Uberti, as he cashed in his first goal against his former team and his second goal as a Steelhead.
Revenge on Home Ice
The front lines move home as the Steelheads battle against the Oshawa Generals on Friday, February 4, at Paramount Fine Foods Centre. With the home-ice advantage, it will be the first time the Steelheads play with their fans back in the stands. The Steelheads will be looking for revenge after a shootout loss that occurred last time the two conference rivals went head-to-head.
In their previous meeting with the Generals on January 20, the Steelheads reached their 50th point on the season and have gone 4-1-0-0 since. Currently, the Steelheads have a point in every game against the Generals this season, leading the series 2-0-0-1 and out-scoring Oshawa, 9-7.
Heading to Steel City
The Blue and White will travel to FirstOntario Centre on February 5 for a Saturday night match-up. It has been almost two months since the two teams went head-to-head, as the last time they faced the Bulldogs was on December 15. Currently, the Bulldogs sit in third place in the Eastern Conference (21-10-2-2), just two spots behind the league-leading Steelheads (27-8-1-3).
This season, the Trout have a 2-1-0-1 record against Hamilton thus far, including a shutout win on November 5. The Steelheads have seen several milestones while playing the Bulldogs this year, including first career goals for Ethan Del Mastro and Zander Veccia, and a first career shutout for Roman Basran.
