Oshawa Generals News Release
Brett Harrison scored the game-winner 3:36 into the third period as the Oshawa Generals snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over the Peterborough Petes Sunday night at Tribute Communities Centre.
After losing last night in Peterborough, the Generals started this game off with some fire under their skates. Stuart Rolofs got the Generals on the board early with a snapshot that beat Michael Simpson to give the Generals a 1-0 lead.
However, the Petes would only need 10 seconds to respond, as Tucker Robertson beat Zachary Paputsakis to make it a 1-1 under five minutes into the game.
After that, Oshawa really started to click offensively. First, it was Luke Torrance sniping one home to make 2-1. Then, Cameron Butler finished off a beautiful give-and-go passing play between Tullio and himself to make it a 3-1 game after the first 20 minutes.
Peterborough would respond halfway through the second period, as Sam Alfano slides a puck past the sprawling Paputsakis for his 9th of the season, cutting the deficit to just one.
The Generals would enter the final period up by just one, frantically trying to hold on and snap the losing streak. However, the Petes wouldn't go down without a fight.
Just 2:17 into the final period, Nick Lardis would find a loose puck at the side of the Generals next and tuck it home to make it a 3-3 hockey game.
In the first period, the Petes responded after a Generals goal in just 10 seconds, but it was Oshawa's turn this time. Just 19 seconds after Peterborough tied the game, Brett Harrison received the puck off a faceoff win by Calum Ritchie and fired it past Simpson to give Oshawa the lead once again.
Peterborough would push hard to tie the game, but Oshawa was able to lock it down defensively, and Paputsakis stood his ground to secure a 4-3 victory.
"It's a big win for our team, and I'm happy my goal helped us win the game," forward Brett Harrison said after the win. "This was a big two points for us, and we have to keep this momentum moving forward with us into next weekend."
The win moves the Generals to 18-16-1-2 on the season, which currently has them in 6th in the Eastern Conference. Their next game is on Friday night, as they travel to Mississauga to take on the 1st place Steelheads.
