
Sosa Promoted to Chicago White Sox Today

Charlotte Knights infielder Lenyn Sosa was recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. Sosa, 22, has appeared in 23 games with the Knights this season and posted a .275 batting average (25-for-91) with 10 runs scored, six doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs and two stolen bases. He was optioned to Charlotte from the Chicago White Sox on June 28.
Sosa began the 2022 campaign with Double-A Birmingham and hit .331 (85-for-257) with 47 runs scored, 10 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs and 48 RBIs over 62 games. He had his contract selected by the White Sox from Birmingham on June 23. He went 1-for-12 (.083) during a four-game stint with the White Sox from June 23-27. He entered the 2022 season ranked by Baseball America as the number 17 prospect in the White Sox system.
Additionally, LHP Tanner Banks was optioned to the Charlotte Knights (Report TBD). In one start this season with the Knights, Banks is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA (2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 SO). In 29 appearances with the White Sox this season, Banks, 30, posted a 1-0 record with a 3.16 ERA (42.2 IP). He made his major-league debut on April 10, 2022 with the White Sox. He spent the entire 2021 season with the Charlotte Knights and posted a 3-3 record with a 4.53 ERA in 25 games (five starts) over 59.2 innings pitched.
Sosa is now the 13th player this season promoted to Chicago from Charlotte.
