(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (58-47) were defeated by the Syracuse Mets (47-58) 18-2 on Sunday evening. The Mets set a record in the IronPigs history book with their 16-run win over the IronPigs, as it was the highest margin of victory for an opponent. The IronPigs managed just five hits in the game.

The Syracuse Mets recorded 18 hits in their victory over the IronPigs. They scored four runs against Ricardo Sanchez (5-4) in the top of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Deven Marrero hit a three-run triple and Nick Plummer hit an RBI double. Chris Sharpe hit a two-run home run against Mike Montgomery in the bottom of the second inning to cut Syracuse's lead to 4-2. The home run was Sharpe's first as an IronPig.

The Mets preceded to score eight runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 12-2 lead. The Mets recorded five hits and sent 12 baserunners to the plate. Sanchez allowed two runs in the inning, while Colton Eastman recorded just one out and allowed six runs in the inning.

Syracuse scored three runs against Jonathan Hennigan in the top of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 15-2. Khalil Lee hit a two-run double, and JT Riddle added an RBI double. Syracuse scored a run in the top of the seventh inning against Sam Coonrod and two runs against Andrew Vasquez in the top of the ninth inning.

Trey Cobb (6-1) earned the win for Syracuse as he pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

The IronPigs are off on Monday then begin a six-game series with the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
