The Clippers right-hander Loek Van Mil is the tallest player in Columbus history at 7'1".

Tall players is nothing new, the Clippers have had 83 players 6'5" and taller over the years. There were years that the Clippers looked more like a basketball squad than a baseball team.

The tallest Clippers were:

Lee Gutterman 6-8

Stefan Wever 6-8

Matt Drews 6-8

Dennis Rasmussen 6-7

Ben Callahan 6-7

Rich Bordi 6-7

Mike Witt 6-7

Bobby Munoz 6-7

Dave Pavlas 6-7

Jeff Juden 6-7

Ben Ford 6-7

Bob Scanlon 6-7

T.J. Beam 6-7

Jim Ed Warden 6-7

Andrew Kown 6-7

Surprisingly, every player on the above list were pitchers. The tallest position player in Clippers history were 6'6" outfielders Darryl Strawberry and Michael Restovich. Some prominent position players who came in at 6' 5" were Drew Henson, Fernando Seguignol, Matt Luke, Shelley Duncan and Sam Horn.

The tallest Columbus Jet was pitcher Long Tom Parsons at 6' 7". Jets pitchers Bob Veale and Dick Hall and first basemen-outfielder Cotton Nash were 6" 6". Nash played in the NBA during the off-season. Hall filled in at many other positions when not pitching during his 19 year major league career. He is the tallest second baseman in major league history.

The most unique nickname given to a tall Columbus player was Robert "Highpockets" Hudspeth. Highpockets was 6'4" and played first base on the 1921 Columbus Buckeyes of the National Negro League.
