Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - Frisco claimed the opener of a six-game series Tuesday night, dispatching the Hooks, 5-3, at Whataburger Field.

Corpus Christi's offense was confined to three solo home runs. Alex McKenna and Grae Kessinger hit back-to-back dingers against Matt Wivins to tie the game at 2 in the fifth.

The RoughRiders answered in the seventh on a two-run triple by Jax Biggers to pull ahead, 4-2. Biggers, who plated three on the night, cashed in a pair of walks by Jonathan Sprinkle.

Cesar Salazar made it a one-run game by opening the home seventh with a long home run to right field. Salazar, who authored his first pro multi-homer game on Sunday, has gone deep in three of his last five at-bats.

Lefty Tristan Polley and Grant Anderson posted zeros in the eighth and ninth, with Anderson picking up his fourth save.

Jayden Murray made his Whataburger Field debut and fired 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball. The damage against Murray came in the first as he finished his performance by retiring eight of 10 batters.

Corpus Christi aims to stop a five-game slide Wednesday night with Jose Bravo on the hill. Frisco counters with Jack Leiter. First pitch 6:35.
