Orlando Solar Bears News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have reached an agreement with WKMG-TV News 6 in Orlando to air three Solar Bears games during the 2015-16 season. The Solar Bears and News 6 teamed up for three broadcasts last season; each televised broadcast was available to over 1.5 million households.
"With the NHL season underway, I can't wait for the puck to drop in Central Florida," News 6 President and General Manager Jeff Hoffman said. "News 6 and the Solar Bears will continue a great partnership."
Solar Bears fans will have their first opportunity to watch Solar Bears hockey on network television on Saturday, January 2, when the Florida Everblades come to town to face the Solar Bears at 7:00 p.m. A second game will air on Saturday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m. as the Solar Bears face off against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. A third game will air February 27 when Orlando hosts the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:00 p.m.
"We are proud to partner with News 6 once again to broadcast Solar Bears hockey to over 1.5 million households," Solar Bears President/CEO Jason Siegel said. "It presents a tremendous opportunity to continue to extend the Solar Bears brand throughout Central Florida."
The broadcast team for the three games includes Solar Bears play-by-play announcer Jesse Liebman alongside News 6 Sports Director Dave Pingalore in the booth. Sam Piotrowski, Solar Bears Vice President of Merchandising and Game Entertainment, will provide interviews and rinkside reports during the game. News 6 sports anchor Jamie Seh will have special interviews and segments with Solar Bears players during both intermissions in each game.
The Solar Bears open their fourth season in the ECHL, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Amway Center against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Single-game tickets for the 2015-16 season are on sale now and can be purchased for as little as $15 at the Amway Center Box Office or online at OrlandoSolarBearsHockey.com or Ticketmaster.com.
The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, play all of their home games at the Amway Center, the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year.
