
Komets Trim Five from Preseason Roster

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Thursday that they have trimmed the preseason roster by five players and have added one.
Released from training camp were goaltenders John McLean and Andrew Walsh and forwards Adam Pawlick, Josh Ranalli and Mike Montagna.
Left wing Garrett Thompson has joined the Komet camp. Thompson, 25, will be entering his second full season of pro play. The forward skated the entire season last year with Binghamton in the AHL scoring six goals and 14 points n 65 games. Thompson made his pro debut in 2013-14 appearing in seven AHL games with the Senators after completing a four-year CCHA collegiate career with Ferris State University. His college career was highlighted with the CCHA regular season championship in 2011-12. During his senior year, the Traverse City, Michigan native led the Bull Dogs with 16 goals and 32 points in 43 games.
The training camp roster shrinks to 26 players and includes two goaltenders, 15 forwards and nine defensemen.
The Komets skated their first exhibition game Wednesday night at Indy. The Fuel topped the Komets 3-1. Scoring the lone goal for Fort Wayne was Peter Sivak with assists by Jamie Schaafsma and Kyle Thomas. The Komets directed 29 shots on the Indy net while the Fuel had 33 shots. Goaltenders Walsh and McLean shared time in the Fort Wayne net. Walsh was given the decision making 20 saves on 22 shots. McLean stopped all 10 shots he faced.
The Komets training camp continues through Thursday, Oct. 15. The Komets will host two home preseason games against the Evansville IceMen Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 7:30pm.

Home opener Oct. 17-- The 64th season of Komet hockey opens with a home-and-home series against long time rival Kalamazoo. The season opener is slated for Kalamazoo Friday, Oct. 16 before the Komets' home opener against the Wings Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7:30pm.
