Solar Bears Come Back in Third to Take 4-3 Victory

Orlando, FL - The Solar Bears climbed back from 1-0 and 3-2 deficits to grab a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Eagles at the Amway Center on Sunday afternoon. F Zach Harrison and F Scott Tanski scored goals 36 seconds apart late in the final frame to boost Orlando to the win.

The Eagles started off the scoring when F Jonathan Parker collected a rebound off the end wall and slid it inside the right goal post at 5:25 to give Colorado an early lead. Orlando responded just under ten minutes later as F Andrew Johnston backhanded a pass from behind the net to Harrison who one-timed into the back of the net locking the game at 1-1 heading into the second period.

An early period power play allowed the Solar Bears to grab their first lead of the game in the second stanza. A shot from the high-slot was blocked, but F Mike Ullrich collected the bouncing puck and whipped a wrist shot over the glove of G Adam Brown at 2:51 as the Solar Bears took the 2-1 lead. It lasted just 1:35 until F Jesse Mychan benefited from a loose puck during a goal mouth scramble and slipped a shot home to knot the game at 2-2.

Colorado regained the lead less than halfway through the third period. F Greg Gardner forced a turnover on the right boards and raced in all alone on G John Curry. Gardner made one move in front of the net and picked the top right corner to put the Eagles ahead 3-2 at 8:16. With time winding down in the contest, Orlando answered. F Tyler Murovich took a feed from D Blake Kessel and split the defense, but Brown came up with the save. Murovich recovered his own rebound and found Harrison alone on the left post to knot the game at 3-3. Tanksi then added his second game winning goal of the season 36 seconds later, taking a pass from F Ian Slater in the right corner and sneaking the puck between the post and the skate of Brown to propel the Solar Bears back into the lead. Orlando held Colorado off the board for the remaining 1:56 to secure the 4-3 win.

Notes:

F Zach Harrison had his first multiple goal game of the season tonight... Orlando eclipsed the 40-shot mark for the second time this year. Both times have been on home ice (Nov. 7)... G John Curry stopped 35 of the 38 shots he faced and has recorded more than 30 saves in a game five times this season... F David Rutherford had an assist on Orlando's power play goal and is now two points away from his 250th professional point... Orlando finished their six game home stand with a 3-3-0 record, earning wins over Greenville (Nov. 26 and Nov. 28) and Colorado.
