Alaska Aces News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -Olivier Roy stopped all 24 shots he saw and posted his second shutout in as many days, helping the Alaska Aces (13-6-0, 26 points) sink the Utah Grizzlies in a 3-0 victory before a crowd of 3,504 at Maverik Center on Saturday.

Mathew Sisca and Dustin Molle each earned a goal and an assist to lead a three goal rally in the third period. The Aces avenged a 2-0 loss on Wednesday in the series opener with back-to-back wins and have a string of 149 minutes and 32 seconds without allowing a goal.

Roy and counterpart Ben Meisner traded saves in the opening period and Roy preserved the scoreless tie on a chance at the front of the net by David Vallorani.

Tim Coffman threatened to strike for the game's first goal in the second period as he went to the front, but Meisner made a desperate diving attempt with his stick and knocked Coffman's bid away. Roy made six saves in the period, neutralizing three Utah power play chances.

After Meisner made another highlight reel save on Coffman to open the third, the Aces finally struck when Sisca lifted a loose puck over Meisner's shoulder at the crease for a 1-0 lead, 5:36 into the period.

Lifted with energy following the critical goal, the Aces continued to buzz the Utah zone and Molle buried his second goal of the season with 4:09 left for a 2-0 lead, when he took a tape-to-tape pass by Ross Ring-Jarvi and threaded a shot from the blueline that beat Meisner under the bar.

Jason Cohen was whistled for a cross-checking penalty late in regulation and Utah desperately pulled Meisner to cut the deficit in half. But after Cohen emerged from the box, he fed Nick Mazzolini up ice, who buried an empty netter with 1:41 to play.

Meisner took the loss on 33 saves.
