Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (15-3-1-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, beat the San Francisco Bulls (7-12-2-1) 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night before 7,836 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

The fur was flying in the Reign's annual Teddy Bear Toss as Mario Lamoureux scored his first-ever Teddy Bear Toss goal. CLICK HERE to see a video of the toss.

The downpour of teddy bears and other stuffed animals began at 12:08 when Mario Lamoureux was able to snap a short shot past J.P. Anderson. Matt Register and Derek Couture earned the assists on the goal. Play continued after just 5:09 of clean up and the Bulls quickly went on the power play for a Reign interference call and stormed the Reign zone. With five players creating traffic in front of Michael Hutchinson, Tyler Gron found the back of the net at 16:46.

Ontario was given a two-man advantage and Couture made the most of it at 11:01 in the second frame. The captain received a crisp pass from Jake Newton and snapped a shot past Anderson from the bottom of the left circle.

In the third period, the Reign were attempting to kill a four-minute double minor when Dale Mitchell backhanded a rebound past Hutchinson's blocker to tie the game 2-2. The tally marked the fourth straight power-play goal of the game. Regulation ended with the score still tied forcing an overtime frame.

The Reign muscled their way in behind the Bulls cage and developed a play between the Couture, Lamoureux and Register. Lamoureux scooped the puck out to Register who was coming in quickly through the right circle. The defenseman caught the pass and wristed a laser past Anderson.

Hutchinson had 27 saves for the win; Anderson took the overtime loss with 42 saves.
