
Sokol stars in Brahmas' 3-2 shootout win over Mudbugs

Fort Worth--Fort Worth Brahmas rookie forward Jimmy Sokol scored two goals, including the game winner in the shootout, to give the Brahmas a 3-2 win over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Sunday afternoon at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Sokol, who was playing in just his seventh professional game, tied the game at two when he flipped in the rebound of a Chad Woollard shot for a Brahmas powerplay goal at the 7:42 mark of the third period. The powerplay goal for Sokol came after penalties to Bossier forwards Forbes MacPherson and Dan Wildfong gave the Brahmas a two-man advantage.
In the shootout, Sokol was the fifth and final shooter for the Brahmas. He picked up the puck at center ice and then made two moves on Bossier netminder Jeff Blair before slipping the puck between the right arm and right leg of Blair and into the Bugs net.
Also scoring in the game for Fort Worth was left wing Martin Paquet. Forwards Dan Wildfong and Scott Sheppard netted goals in the contest for the Mudbugs.
Fort Worth netminder Larry Sterling earned the win in goal for the Brahmas by stopping 17 of the 19 Mudbugs shots that he faced in regulation and four of five Bugs shooters in the shootout. The shootout victory was the third of the year for Sterling.
Blair took the shootout loss for the Mudbugs. He stopped 26 of 28 Brahmas shots in regulation before allowing two Brahmas goals in the shootout.
The win for the Brahmas comes in Fort Worth's final regular season game of the 2004-2005 season. The Brahmas end the season with a 26-28-6 record and 58 standings points.
