Sodowsky Makes Debut with Atlanta Braves

Former Pelicans ace pitcher Clint Sodowsky made his debut last night with the Atlanta Braves organization. Sodowsky was the starting pitcher for the double-A Mississippi Braves in their 6-3 win over the Birmingham Barons in Pearl, MS.

The tall right-hander threw five innings, gave up two earned runs on six hits and struck out four in the no-decision. Sodowsky left the game down by one run, 3-2. Mississippi scored three runs in the 8th inning to win 6-3.

Sodowsky dominated the American Association hitters this season with the Pelicans, pitching his way to the league's sixth best ERA (2.45) with a 5-1 record. He also led the league with 56 strikeouts compared to walking only 18 batters. Sodowsky gave up only 44 hits in 55 innings of work, which led the Pelicans for the most innings pitched this season.

FINAL GAME VERSUS DIVISION LEADERS COASTAL BEND

The Pelicans wrap-up their home stand tonight versus the Coastal Bend Aviators at 6:05 p.m. With a Pelicans win, they will be only a half game out of first place behind the Aviators in the South Division. It is Kids Day sponsored by Covenant Hospice, Nemours Children's Clinic, and Cat Country 98.7.

PELICANS TRAVEL TO PLAY ST. PAUL FOR FIRST EVER MEETING

Pensacola hits the road tonight after the game to travel to Minnesota and Missouri to play their first ever series against the St. Paul Saints and the St. Joseph Blacksnakes. The first game of the six-game trip starts Tuesday at 7:05 LIVE on AM1620 from St. Paul, MN.

PELICANS RETURN HOME ON INDEPENDENCE DAY

Following the Pelicans road trip, the Sioux Falls Canaries travel down to Pensacola for their first ever meeting with the Pelicans July 4-6. Tuesday, July 4th, the Pelicans and Pen-Air Federal Credit Union present Independence Day post-game fireworks. On Wednesday, its Family Night, fans get 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 Pepsis, 4 bingo cards and 4 fan cards for only $24. Thursday, July 6th is Thirsty Thursday where all domestic draft beer is only $1.
