ST. PAUL, MN - Steve Butler's RBI single scored Billy Cox with the winning run as the St. Paul Saints rallied for a 4-3 victory over Sioux City Sunday before 5,884 fans at Midway Stadium. It was the fourth time this season St. Paul has won a game when trailing after eight innings, highest total in the American Association.

Mike Meyer (5-3), who became the first AA pitcher to throw two Complete Games this year, tossed a 7-hitter with just one walk and five strikeouts to gain the victory

But his team trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the ninth with Explorer closer Sean Kramer (1-2) on the mound. Brian Sprout led off with a walk but the next two batters were retired. Cox, a rookie catcher, doubled in the left center alley to scored Sprout, tying the game at 3. Butler followed with a line drive to left center that easily scored Cox with the winning run.

Chris Grossman hit his third home run of the season, a two-run shot, and DH Kevin Henry singled home a run for the Explorers, who were officially eliminated from the first half North Division race. The Saints moved within four games of first place Lincoln, which had a night game scheduled against St. Joseph. Josh Renick, who had three hits for St. Paul, scored the team's first run and knocked in the second.

Justin Lord (5-0) will start for the Saints in the finale of the four-game series Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at Midway. Aaron Marsden (1-0), a lefty recently acquired from Lincoln, will work for the Explorers.
