St. Joe's offense leads to series win in Lincoln

Lincoln, NE-Both offenses were on display at Haymarket Park as St. Joe (21-20) took two of three from Lincoln (28-14) with a 14-9 win in the finale. After scoring first, St. Joe did not lead until the seventh inning when they sent 14 men to the plate and scored eight times on eight hits to take the lead.

St. Joe scored in six of their nine at-bats and all nine starters had hits as they tied a season-high with 19 hits.

After scoring in the first inning, Lincoln sent nine men to the plate in a four-run first inning. St. Joe kept scrapping and was within 4-3 and 5-4 before Lincoln scored two in the fifth and then took a 7-4 lead after five innings. That is when the comeback began.

Seven Blacksnakes' had two or more hits, including three-hit games for Wil Quintana, Mark Burke and Jimmy Mojica. Quintana was a triple short of the cycle as he drove in five runs with a single, double and three-run home run during the sixth inning rally. Ben Thomas also homered for the ‘Snakes.

St. Joe heads home now for the next 10 games at Phil Welch Stadium, beginning with a four-game series with Sioux Falls starting Monday. Donovan Graves (3-2) starts the opener for the ‘Snakes against the Canaries' Doug Johnson (2-4) at 7:05pm. It is Margarita Monday at the ballpark with the gates opening at 6pm. After Sioux Falls, St. Joe will wrap up the first half with Pensacola for three games before hosting Lincoln to start the second half over the Fourth of July.
