Cedar Rapids took an early 1-0 lead after scoring a run in the top of the second inning. The Kernels added another run in the fourth to push the lead to 2-0. Starter Josh Hill pitched seven solid innings, giving up the two runs on three hits. Beloit went without a hit until the seventh when David Winfree doubled to left. Trevor Plouffe then singled up the middle to score Winfree and make it 2-1. In the top of the eighth Cedar Rapids scored another run to take a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the ninth after a lead off walk to Deacon Burns and he stole second Plouffe again came up with the big hit to score Burns. The Snappers would strand the winning run at first base as Cedar Rapids took game one of this four game series, 3-2.
Upcoming Schedule: Beloit and Cedar Rapids will hook up again Tuesday Night at Pohlman Field; first pitch is set for 6:30 pm.
