Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT, WI - In a close pitcher's duel, the Snappers fell to the Clinton LumberKings by a final score of 3-0 on Tuesday night. The Snappers received excellent pitching in the ballgame, but unfortunately, ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard at the end of the night.
Clinton would get the scoring started in the ballgame with an early run in the second inning. However, that early run would prove important, as it would ultimately be the deciding factor in the ballgame.
For the Snappers offensively, they struggled to get the bats going collecting just five hits in the contest. However, it was much due to the strong Clinton pitching by George Soriano who retired 10 straight Snappers hitters at one point and ended up with a complete game shutout.
For the Snappers on the mound, the duo of Chase Cohen and Bryce Conley were solid tonight matching Clinton pitch for pitch, but will unfortunately end up on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
Chase Cohen got the nod to begin the game and only surrendered one run in his 15th start of the season. Cohen will end up getting tabbed with the tough loss, but ended the night throwing four strong innings giving up just the one run, with five strikeouts and scattering four hits.
Bryce Conley was first and last out of the bullpen and would continue the strong game of pitching for Beloit. Conley concluded his evening by throwing five innings and giving up just two runs on six strikeouts and three hits.
Beloit will look to rebound tomorrow and earn a split of this short two game series. Tomorrow, July 3rd , is the much anticipated 3rd of July Fireworks show presented by the Huntley Fan Club and Bolgrien, Koepke, Kimes & Livingston.
