Cedar Rapids right hander Austin Schulfer held Burlington to four hits and a single run to earn his second win against the Bees this year. Robinson Pina was good for the home club, allowing a two runs, one earned, on five hits over 4.2 innings. Schulfer was just a bit better. He gave up an unearned run, three hits and a walk, while striking out eight in six innings of work.

Bees' catcher Harrison Wenson scored the lone Burlington run when without the benefit of a ball in play. He was hit by a pitch, stole second when Schulfer went into a wind up, and went to third on the play, as Kernels catcher Chris Williams threw the ball into the outfield. Wenson scampered home on a wild pitch. That made the score 1-0 Bees after two innings. It was Wenson's first stolen base since since 2017, during his days at the University of Michigan.Cedar Rapids plated two in the fifth on a single, stolen base, infield out, single and an error. They pushed a single run across in the seventh on a single, steal, wild pitch and a sacrifice fly. Kernels 3-1, and that is how it ended.

Jordyn Adams had two of the Bees four hits. Justin Jones and Alvaro Rubalcaba had the others.
