Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Notes: Despite Revere's best offensive efforts the Snappers fell to the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 7-0. The Snappers struggled to get three outs in the first inning but got out of a huge mess by only allowing two runs.

Revere tried to help offset the two-run deficit with a solid single to center field in the bottom of the first inning. He then proceeded to make his way around the bases to third by forcing the Kernels to make two defensive errors. Unfortunately, the Snappers couldn't capitalize on Revere's progression in the first inning, failing to plate him from third base.

Bromberg tried his best to shut the Kernels down but he failed to do so in 5.1 innings. David managed to strikeout four batters and walk just one, but picked up his sixth loss of the year.

Cedar Rapids scored six of their seven runs off Bromberg with two in the first, one in the third and three in the sixth. Five of the six runs allowed by Bromberg were earned.

The Kernels would eventually score one more off Beloit's Chris Anderson in the top of the ninth to claim the 7-0 victory.

Charles Nolte was a bright spot for Beloit, pitching 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. The right-hander from San Diego struck out two Kernels while allowing just one hit. He lowered his team-best ERA to 2.02.

Chris Cates, Greg Yersich and Allan de San Miguel each had a hit for the Snappers who fell to 8-4 in the second half.
